The European Barge Inspection Scheme was developed by European oil and chemical companies as part of their commitment to improving the safety of tanker barging operations. The EBIS database contains objective data on the safety and quality of barges, which EBIS member companies use to carry out risk assessments. The system consists of a combination of inspection software, web applications and database applications.
